the people i knew in ohio state were such idiots. they just kindof did stupid shit. for years. and i dont think they ever stopped. everybody in ohio is an asshole to each other.
Y chromosome effective for tracing populations.
original ornkey / shetland picts possibly eliminated
similar to tasmania where original inhabitants killed off by british
our ancestors have surivived this desolation for the last 25,000 years. nomads emerging from the last ice age. the stone age.
about 15,000 years ago teh climate began to change.
humans discover the grasses, a huge supply of grain. first step forward.
barley and wheat began to be selected, the edible grasses. they were hunter gatherer's but the grasses forced a change of lifestyle.
over half the world is fed on grain today
grain if left dry can last for decades
a person can harvest for three weeks to get enough to last a family for a year
shorter ice age followed, vast drought in middle east, and famine. the natufi were the people of the area. drought lasted over 1,000 years. but then ice age ended and world became wetter and warmer.
farming allowed for more children via increased yield of food. - given larger populations, leaders were required.
"it took a crisis to push them forward" - perhaps human instinct?
herders begin - goats, (dogs already hunted w/ hunter-gather) pigs, cows, sheep etc. people still herd goats today.
the herders and the cereal growers came together - herding + cultivating to bring about ready supply of meat + cereals.
people and animals living together created new diseases.
corporations might possibly be evil - eliminating the chance for people to be able to do what they'd like
the farmers move out and colonize europe, exchanging animals and seeds for local commodities from those groups and communities that already inhabited the area. this spread the farming to new areas, and these new settlers would clear cut forests to allow sunlight to come in.
in the middle east the way of life was in crisis. after thousands ofyears of ivllage life, available fuel diminished. goat herding & grazing caused trees to no longer grow.
european climate proved a challenge. after 1,000 years, the plow arrives, crop timing arrives. as well as getting used to building with pure timber rather than mud. they were called teh longhouse peope. also perfected dairy cow.
many of the original northern hunter-gatherer's remained with their own ways untainted and bothered by the middle east influence. hunter-gatherer's eventually abandon their own ways for the security of farming. this is the time of the standing stones.
4,000 years ago the last hunter gatherer's roamed europe. they disappear. warriors are taking over the lands.
roussoulian culture in between the sumerians and egyptians, became first tree cultivators, and also mass produced pottery, plus importance of converting raw materials into high value products. like milk into butter. trade was at the center of this whole way of life.
roussoul was nearby teh dead sea, and salt made possible preservation of such things as olives and fish.
religion emerges as a method of control and leadership. birth death and the changing seasons amaze, the priests dictated the gods will. standing stones erected during this time.
copper begins to be mined, smelted, the first smelted metal, and traded.
the egyptians and sumerians begin to irrigate their own lands, mine their own salt. rossoul disappears within 100 years. living by trade begins to spread throughout the middle east and into europe.
what if the communal lifestyle of the stone-age europeans was left untouched today. no sense of personal ownership etc.
being a stone-age trader might've been kinda cool.
trader's believed more in value of individual. came as traders, stayed to farm. brought the art of smelting to the north. the "beaker" people. mix some tin to copper and you get bronze.
daggers, spearheads, swords, the whole nature of armaments was changed by effective working bronze. military elite emerges. bronze, fermented drinks, and mounted horse signs of power status. leaders on top, farmers on the bottom. the wheel spreads about 5,500 years ago. it comes from the middle east as well.
amber found amongst seaweed, traded.
3000 years ago iron discovered, and warfare follows.
there are over 9,000 species of birds today.
